Gratuitous tea things post!! I’ve shared some random shots of my teacups and various pots in the past (maybe?), but I’ve never actually shown them in all their china glory. I’m sure that there are few who will really care to see and read about my little collection, but for those who do - this is for you!
Sets 1-5:
Sets 1-5 belonged to my maternal grandmother. She was one of the first people who introduced me to an appreciation of all things tea-related; she used to have a cup every night before bed, and my dad would buy her a new cup at Christmas. When she moved into the nursing home, these came to me, and now that she’s gone, I use them often in her memory.
Set 6:
Set 6 was a Christmas present from my parents. It’s actually modeled after a china pattern used by the Biltmore family of Asheville, North Carolina, whose grand estate we had just visited and from whence this beauty was brought.
Set 7:
Set 7 was a gift from my great aunt. I had a little tea party for her when she was in town, and upon her return home, she shipped this lovely, delicate cup and saucer set to me.
Set 8:
Set 8 was a gift from one of my students this past Christmas. I nearly cried when she told me “it belonged to her grandmother who was from Scotland, and she had so many teacups from her that she knew I would appreciate having one for my own.” The kitty milk pourer is actually from another student around the same time, but i seemed appropriate to include it here.
Set 9:
Set 9 is my most recent acquisition. It was passed down to me with a twin and three dessert plates in the same pattern from my aunt who, upon my paternal grandmother’s passing, knew I would use them well.
