People always assume that, just because I work as a nursery nurse, I must like or really really want children of my own right now, and I don't

Can I just say, I admire anyone who becomes a nursery nurse, I personally couldn't do it, have the patience or the temprement for it.

For that Clair I salute you!

I haven't worked in over a year, so it seemed a bit pointless to respond. But, when I was working. What irritated me the most is that people would burrow my equipment; ie, staplers, pens, desk, computer, printer, chair. Especially the younger 20 year olds that felt that if I had gotten up to go to the Bathroom or lunch, that my computer/desk/chair was easy pickins. The younger generation are rude and have no respect for the office protical or professionalism. The attitude of what is in it for them attitude is very prevelant and obvious and shows in the lack of work and moral ethics.

A job is a job, whether past or present :)

It surprises me that 20-year-olds would do that, but that may be due to how/where I was raised.

that i might 'only' be a volunteer, but as a crime victim's advocate, being on call 5pm-8am for the hotline and then going out to the hospital and police station to hold the hands of rape victims, redirect rude officers... convincing county services to put someone in a shelter so their SO won't kill them... filling out all the complicated bureaucratic paperwork so that crime victims can be compensated for personal items that go into evidence... and everything else... is probably a fuck lot harder than their job so they should stop looking down on me for not having a 'real' job alongside this. and this isn't real work because i don't get paid and it's a week every month or so. i'd like to see them last half a week unpaid doing all this.

Jeez, no kidding. What you do sounds very difficult, and takes a lot of patience and emotional strength, I'd imagine -more than what most jobs require, too, would be my guess. You also have much more effect, and do more meaningful work, in that week, than a lot of -most?- people do in their standard M-F 9-5 position.

Thank you for sharing -I appreciate that you took the time to do so.
