The Zeitgeist is a movie, documentary of sorts I suppose. I don't know if the whole thing is true, because my knowledge is painfully limited. But some of it I do know is true; that the Gulf of Tonkin battle/skirmish was false, and that they are implanting ( Read more... )

they are putting identification chips in a while, but at the moment they have no more information stored on them than what's written on the old passports as well, visible and in the number code at the bottom. The chip just permits them to be read electronically, and makes them a bit harder to forge as both the passport and the chip have to correspond. They are still debating whether to put fingerprints on them, as there would be too many difficulties arising with that.

hmm... the beginning didn't quite make sense. Passports do have identification chips nowadays, but the old ones still work , for countries other than the States. It's that overprotectivity I've talked about earlier. Anyhow, like the rest of the text says, the info stored in them is no different than what is available from the passport itself. Only difference it can make, is that as the info comes in electronically they would be able to make a background check on the info faster (ie if the person has been added to a wanted list).
