I don't know how people find closure after suicide. There's so much anger and confusion and resentment to reconcile. You and your friend have one another, at least. A battle of wills is probably the best compromise for now.
I saw 'Be Cool' over the weekend and found it horrendously awful and hilarious, if that makes any sense. If you're looking for another Get Shorty, then I wouldn't waste my money. This movie is way to obvious and transparent and stereotypical. But if you're looking to sit and coast and marvel at The Rock and Vince Vaugn playing against type, then it's a go.
You're not the first person to exclaim about the GS soundtrack. I may have to check it out!
I just don't even know how she's coping at all, much less dealing with the suicide. I've always been amazed by her strength, but this time, she's even surprised me. It's those moments though, where she is completely vulnerable and weak and crying for help that kill me most.
Hmmm, I might have to check it out myself. I have serious crush issues with Vince Vaughn, and seeing him in that character might be just what I need.
Oh Cel. You've seen the movie, right? The soundtrack is unbelievable. Get it. Ok then.
Um. I've heard that Be Cool isn't so great. I haven't seen it though so that's not MY opinion. *shrugs*
I asked them when Garden State was going pre-viewed, because I'm cheap but still want the movie. They told me soon. Which means they were too lazy to look it up. They always say they don't know, which is a lie. They can look it up. It's in a manual they get every month. LIARS! Uh. So the point is, it should be coming pre-viewed soonish.
Considering I saw 'The Aviator', I am sure it can't be that bad. At least 'Be Cool' can't possibly be as bad as that horrid shit. AT LEAST I'll have VV to look at, right? :)
Did you check Blockbuster? I think our local Blockbuster already had some previously viewed ones on their shelves for only 9 bucks or something. But the soundtrack, I've been listening to it all weekend.
I did not see "The Aviator". I guess I won't be rushing to the theater either. *L* Simon from Duran Duran was on the radio this morning and he said it was a pile of you know what, except for John Travolta. *shrugs* I'll probably wait for video myself but if you like it, let me know! :)
I did. Those are the assholes that told me, soon. I guess I'll have to stop by and see.
As you can imagine, I have a good understanding of what you're going through. Of course, it's not the "same" (it's never the same) but I do understand the sentiments that you're talking about. I'm sitting here commenting to you and crying about my own loss so I imagine I'm on the same page as you here...[not dismissing, just empathizing]
I've heard it gets easier but I haven't gotten to that point yet..
but.. of course.. I'm around if you need me...You DO have my number and all.
You should just take her to see "Be Cool" no matter what the reviews are. Even if it sucks you two can laugh at how bad it was and if it was good then you can laugh.. well... during it. I did hear the Rock was good in it though. And KB, it has Vince Vaughn in it! That in itself makes me want to see it!
Although I've been through this sort of experience several times in my life already, and I've lost very close friends, it never gets easier. The only thing that can help is time, which is a catch-22 in itself. But it really is the only thing that can heal.
Thanks, Jenellie. I'm just feeling a little helpless, a lot sad, and pretty useless at this point. And I know you're in the same boat, so *HUGS* to you too.
VINCE! God I *heart* that man. So regardless of the reviews, I'm going to see it. Fuck the critics, right?
my uncle committed suicide when i was eleven. it destroyed his family.
no one is the same. i... i don't know if the person understands that for them... death is it. it's done for them. but the people left behind? we're the ones who still carry the hurt.
It's really almost surreal and unimagineable what is going on. It kind of feels like a bad nightmare, yet...it's not. And you're right; he doesn't have to deal with the aftermath. She hasn't reached the bitter stage yet though - right now she just wants to know why. I don't know if we'll ever have those answers.
i'm okay, honey. i've had 14 years to deal with it. it still hurts and probably always will, but it's... better now.
more often than not... the answers will never come because the person who has them... is gone. *hugs* i'm so sorry. please tell your friend that... i'm sending good thoughts and prayers.

Hmmm, not quite sure if I trust the word of a Duran Duran member. ;) But if I do see it, I'll def. let you know!
I'll keep my eye out for GS for you.
