hoped to attract a whole new audience into the theater for the first time

would I go to london to see this? I guess I would, if reviews were okay, and work let me take the time off.

Of course they mean: hoped to attract a whole new audience from all over the world!!!! :-D It does sound like a really good play though, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

PROS

- Yes! It's really happening! Carl ONSTAGE!

- It's a critically acclaimed play by a well-established playwright.

- It's in a credible venue.

CONS

Sadie Frost! Sadie Frost! Sadie Frost! Aaaaargh!!!!!

Carl's character is a kind of modern day cowboy. This means american accent (!). Possibly a southern american accent (!!!)

Hopefully they'll do an AU version where the characters are from South London instead...

Dear Carl,

Please do not listen to Southern Baptist tent revival preachers from Alabama. (or, Kevin Cronin either *hint* REO Speedwagon*) Please, instead, listen to the dialogue coach. Not all southerners sound like redneck hicks, so please do the part justice, and do a credible accent instead of a cartoon.

Thank you.
