I am gonna eat the hell out of some cupcakes on my Labor Day trip to NYC!!!! Gmail noticed me talking about cupcakes with my now-in-NY sister, and offered this link. Oh God. WANT! (Does anyone have any particular recommendations for places to try or avoid in NY?)

Ok, my opinion on Crumbs was that it was medium-good. They are pricey, but you get a lot of cupcake for your money (I will chow down on a lot of food and rarely will you hear me say "oh, that's too much, I can't finish it"... but Crumbs actually pushed me over the "can't finish it" line). So points for big cupcakes. I found the cake to be lacking in structural integrity and a wee bit too muffiny. But the taste factor was a 10, and the frosting was nice and fluffy. (Can you tell that I just went back through my cupcakes tag in my LJ?)
I loved, loved, loved Sugar Sweet Sunshine. I actually think they're better than Lyndell's, and they are my #2 or #3 cupcakes of all cupcakeries I've tried. I highly recommend them. Excellent moist cake that stays together, good cake:frosting ratio, lots of flavors, and a reasonable size:price ratio ( ... )
