When Bonnie wakes up, she'll find a vase (it's nice, cut glass) with an arrangement of stargazer lillies and baby's breath, with some ferny greenery for volume. The card reads...
Bonnie,
I heard about the shooting (What? I am a cop) and thought the least I could do was send flowers... and assure you that New York's Finest are on the case. It's out of my precinct, but I can keep you posted, if you like.
Feel better soon, beautiful. We've got a date to keep, one of these days.
But it only took her a moment to realize that she was in the hospital and then to remember why. She tried to move, but pain shot through her shoulder, causing her to wince and lie still. She glanced around the room without moving her head, and found that she was alone.
Where were Michael and Kitt? She spotted a beautiful vase of flowers on the stand next to her, and smiled. At least they had gotten her flowers. Lillies. One of her favorites. With her left hand, she was able to reach the card that was poking out of the greenery. Just as she was trying to figure out how she was going to get the card out of the envelope with one hand, the door to her room opened and a nurse came hustling through
( ... )
There were some things that needed her presence, and some that most definitely didn't. Kitt and Michael catching up on events was one of the latter. Besides, hospitals were bad enough without waking up alone.
Red sat down in one of the inevitably uncomfortable chairs by the bed, in a shadowed corner. Tucked her feet up under her and wished she'd thought to bring a book. After a while she just pillowed her head on her arms and dozed, distracting herself with thoughts of the more practical details of weddings. It worked, for a little while.
I know you're ill, and I know you might not be able to come, but there has been an accident and Kitt has been injured. And, quite frankly I have no idea who else to turn to.
He was attacked by a virus. Is there anyone you could recommend to help him? Can you?
Also, please keep it under raps, we have a bit of a situation here.
I should have stayed away. I am so sorry, Bonnie. This is all my fault.
