Dice of Doom??

This afternoon featured a pleasant three hours (or so) spent saving the world from the Cthuloid beasties infesting chrestomancy's place, with the help of lathany, Hanbury and cuthbertcross, with occasional breaks to change dvd/food/nappy for babysaxon. We Arkhamed on Sunday and, with the very useful wimble's memories (he having read the FAQ many times, I believe), managed to get through it in 4 1/2 hours and with only one rule error (from a combination of forgetfulness and the fact that the gate kept reopening on Wizard Hill (Dunwich) from the get-go).

But it was a hell of an error! The first gate opened on Wizard's Hill in Dunwich. The second gate opened on Wizard's Hill in Dunwich, producing a monster rush of 6 monsters (there being 6 players). The third gate opened on Wizard's Hill in Dunwhich, at which point, we stopped, and reshuffled the cards properly (since it was the first time we'd user zandev's set, the cards were sorted, and hadn't been shuffled well enough).

Unfortunately, we continued drawing a huge number of Wizard Hill gates, and kept getting monster rushes. What I forgot was to spread the monsters around all the open gates: instead, we just marched the entire stack out into Dunwich (which was correct the first time, as we'd only got the one open gate at that point. But it set a habit). As a result, Dunwich was almost impassible for most of the game, and Arkham was nicely empty. We got a total of 1 terror point! I did remember, about two turns from the end, when we got a monster rush in Arkham, but it was a bit late to adjust things by then.

BTW: arkham_horror.
