...watch it in the cinema, and then get the DVDs of the series, and think of it as prequel or something. I think it's a bit like book-and-film - if you do the longer, more detailed one (book) first, the shorter, less detailed version (film) is often a bit of a let down.

Which means, I loved the series, and was slightly disappointed in the film. Only slightly, and only in ways which were unavoidable, given the much shorter running time, and the different constraints of film versus TV. But I did still love the film.

You can see "Serenity" without having seen the series - there's a brief recap of the "history" of the story right at the start.
Also, adelpha has "Firefly", and would probably be happy to lend them to you. *Tries to blag a visit*

And you're welcome to borrow Firefly too.

I'm not sure if you really need to have seen it before seeing the film to know what's going on. It probably helps.

As long as you're willing to be slightly lost at the beginning of Serenity, you can go ahead and watch the film first - it has an intro/recap/thingie for its non-Firefly audience, so you'll catch up although the large number of characters may be just a tad confusing to begin with.

But whether you watch it before or after the film, you should still watch Firefly - it's only 12 episodes :)

Cabbages?

:)

Oh, ice creams in a cinema. That is always great fun. I remember that.

Cabbages?

Actually, I think they were Cauliflowers in the particular scene. But they were half eaten, so hard to tell.

Hello, random person here, just wanted to state that your user name and icon make me terribly happy. =)

And agreement with the above noters on Serenity; it's a good film, and should be understandable to someone who hasn't seen the series. Definitely watch the series when you can, though, as it's much to be preferred.
