Mayday

The emergency strobe flashed red, casting subdued light through the darkened cabin of the shuttlecraft. Smoke from a minor electrical fire wafted toward the overhead, creating a thick haze in the confined space. An open comm line crackled with static in the background. A groan lifted up from behind an overturned chair. This was the hell Doctor ( Read more... )

I kinda went with it - I hope that's okay. xD;; vulcancommander June 18 2010, 04:20:25 UTC
Everything happened quickly, even for Spock. There had been alerts flashing, him pushing past people to quickly move, move, move to see what was happening. The pilot had lost control, the planet's gravity too much of a force against the pilot's own strength. The Vulcan tried, but it was no use because by that time, they were already spiraling down towards the planet.

What felt like hours later, in the haze of smoke, heat and chaos, Spock blinked with a heavy groan before sitting up. He'd been shoved down to the floor of the craft on impact, the meeting of his head to said floor causing him to black out for a few minutes.

Brown eyes blinked and took in the chaos before he helped the pilot up into a sitting position. Everything felt like it was in a sort of vertigo before he heard Dr. Boyce's voice calling out. "We are uninjured for the most part, Dr. Boyce." Spock answered back.

The doctor rose to his hands and knees and a moment later to his feet. The inclined deck beneath made it difficult to keep his balance. Using the permanently placed fixtures as handholds, he began to move forward. The smoke tickled his throat as he inhaled. Soon he knew it would do far more unpleasant things..

"For heaven's sake... someone put out the fire."

As soon as the doctor was asking for someone to put out the fire, Spock was on it. He may be Vulcan and not mind the heat, but he understood the others did. So he had taken a extinguisher from the fire kit and started using it on said fire, putting it out effectively. Head spinning only slightly, he set it aside and looked around, feet shifting a little on the legs of the chairs he was using as a foothold on the sloped deck.

"I apologize for not making a smoother landing, even in the event of an emergency."

They were alive. That's all that ultimately mattered. He crouched down beside the slumped pilot, taking his head momentarily out of the thickest layer of haze.

"Can we vent this smoke without taking in atmosphere?"

The environment outside was even more toxic than what currently filled the cabin.
