1. Mr. Dursley. Talking about Hedwig. 2. Dudley (I think he "simpered" when he said it.) 3. Hermione? 4. The mirror at the Weasley's house. 5. Mr. Weasley 6. Neville (Who else?!) 7. Hagrid 8. On the US picture, I'm guessing that the possible absence of a scar is probably not significant (though it's worth keeping in the back of my mind as a possibility).
His scar is still there. It just didn't show up on the smaller versions of the pictures. It shows up on this one.
I agree on the sobbing part. It doesn't necessarily mean a sad ending. When I first read The Silmarillion, the Beren and Luthien story had me in floods, and you can't call that ending sad. It's bittersweet, yes, but they do get to share the same fate, so they'll never be apart

On the UK picture, my initial guess was (and to some extent still is) that the Trio are in some kind of treasure room associated with Voldemort. I guess this because I'm expecting that to be a Horcrux scene (note that the Hufflepuff Cup could easily be there).
But there are all those rubies: rubies, rubies everywhere. We know there are rubies in the Gryffindor sword and rubies are used to count Gryffindor House points. So if this is a quest for an item, I would tend to believe all the rubies mean it's the "something of Gryffindor". (My guess is that the Gryffindor relic hasn't been Horcruxed yet, but that Voldemort will be trying; but that's further out on a limb.)
It will be interesting to find out how Harry ends up waiting in Privet Drive. That suggests at least a bit of a change of plans from the end of HBP, when Harry's planning to go ahead on the Horcrux Hunt, accompanied by Ron & Hermione only because they insist, and certainly not waiting for anyone's permission. It doesn't seem like a change of plans to me, because we

we know he planned to wait at Privet Drive until a certain event: until his 17th birthday when the protective spell finally runs out. That's what Dumbledore wanted and Harry said he would honor that wish.
Really? Where did either Dumbledore or Harry say that? What Dumbledore said to Vernon and Petunia was "I ask only this: that you allow Harry to return, once more, to this house, before his seventeenth birthday, which will ensure that the protection continues until that time." (Not "until his birthday," just "before his birthday.") And then Harry says to Ron and Hermione at the end of the school year: "I'm going back to the Dursleys' once more, because Dumbledore wanted me to. But it'll be a short visit, and then I'll be gone for good." Would Harry seriously call a month-and-a-half visit "short"?
If it turns out that Dumbledore (and Harry) really did mean "until" his birthday, then that's fine with me; it would fit with how I had always imagined the story going (before HBP came out). But both of the relevant quotes from HBP had
