On the greatest books of all time... guesswork_ April 11 2006, 15:35:08 UTC
I'm pretty gratified to find out that "Goblet of Fire" came in at fifth. :) But I'm glad "Wuthering Heights" is in the top ten, "Noughts and Crosses" made the list and "Love in the Time of Cholera" got on. You, Dr. Fawkes? Any on the list that is in your top 100 favorites, too? :)

Actually 41 of them. Including "Crime & Punishment", "Pride & Prejudice", "To Kill a Mocking Bird" and hordes of others.
I've never read "Love in....cholera" or "Noughts & Crosses". Are they good?

"Noughts and Crosses," I really, really recommend it. It's the first in a trilogy (read the first two so far), and it's brilliant. There's just something about that universe that makes it real and tangible and modern, but also timeless and classic. It has a certain Romeo-and-Juliet angle to it. :) "Love in the Time of Cholera" is trademark Garcia-Marquez. Sometimes he rambles or maybe you only feel that way, but he talks about (slightly) unbelievable things matter-of-factly. If you've seen "Y tu mama tambien," well, in my opinion they have the same tone. So if you'd like to take on that kind of sensibility, this is a really good epic sort of half-romance. :)

Oh, goodness, thanks for the list...I now have a lot to catch up on!

Not nearly enough of them!

You know, I almost hate you for giving me a reading list. But I can't. ♥ reading. *glomps book list*

I know. Isn't it great?
Come, come, Vea. You can't hate me for a Reading List! But you may hate me for constantly nagging you for the next chapter of "The Diary". *winks*

I really can't. But that combined with my fic reading list... Well, I have a lot to do! But it should be enjoyable, at least. ;)
*hides* There's a lot left to do in the chapter...

Wow! I'm "incoherent" with wonder that a lovely author like you would want to 'friend' poor, dull me. Go ahead, I've added you.
I'm afraid that "The Phial of Midnight" will not be updated before mid-June. My exams are very suffocating, you see. But it won't be longer than 5 chapters. Thank you for taking an interest in my work.
Peace
Dr. Fawkes

You're much too hard on yourself!
Ah, exam-wise; I know you feel. I've got mine at the end of next month and through June.
....so I'm procrastinating revision by writing fanfiction....
Makes sense, eh?

(I'm also making it a personal goal to read every single book on that '100 books of all time list'. So....I probably have to read them all, beside the Harry Potter ones...)
