[Background]
Spoilers ahead, guys! D8
Wilson is Jewish, and has three brothers. It was recently discovered that the reason Wilson so readily helps everyone is because he blames himself for his brother running away-- although it was far from his fault, which House points out.
He first met House at a medical convention in New Orleans, after having accidentally broken an antique mirror and getting into a bar fight. He was arrested, and House, out of boredom, bailed him out and hired a lawyer to clear his name.
Wilson has been married three times, and each marriage has ended in divorce. His latest relationship was with Amber, one of the many people House fired whilst hiring a new team. Wilson and Amber had a good relationship, they worked well together, mostly because Amber had many traits similar to House's and because with Amber, he had fun. House became openly jealous towards Amber, insisting that he deserved as much, if not more time with Wilson, and they even had to come to an arrangement to keep him happy. Amber and Wilson wouldn't be together for long, though, as she and House ended up in a serious crash, and ultimately, she died (although the cause was something completely different, not the actual crash).
Wilson blamed House at first, needing someone to pin the blame on after realizing the full truth as to why she was driving in the first place (it was to pick him up, as he'd been drinking all night long in a bar down town). This is when he makes the rash decision to quit his job and cut ties with House (although he soon came to realize that House wasn't technically the one to blame), as Amber taught him a valuable lesson about how to act in a relationship with someone like her-- he needed to take care of himself first. When House asked why he was leaving, Wilson simply responded "I have the right to walk away from you."
They would soon reconcile, however, as Wilson quickly found that without House, he had no fun.
[Personality]
Wilson cares about his appearance. He spends hours each morning fussing over his hair, his teeth and deciding which tie to wear to work. It's easy to see that he wants the world to see him as someone who takes care of himself, and care of others. He's very much a people pleaser, practically bending over backwards for other people, and whilst he's very cynical, unlike House, Wilson tries to make a good impression. And that's why the two are such good friends-- in essence, the two are identical, but in practice, they're polar opposites.
Wilson is the friend everyone wishes they had, and he tries hard to maintain that image. He knows what he should and shouldn't say in situations, and unless he's talking with House, he'll always go for the 'should' option. Whilst pleasing people is merit enough, it gets to the point when you're pleasing everyone else around you, as opposed to yourself. House is the only person who sees him for who he is, and although that's comforting, House isn't the type of person you can speak to things about.
So Wilson keeps his emotions and his depression to himself, which doesn't work out for the best at all. He becomes emotionally attached to things, unable to let them go in fear of losing the person the object represents. This is proven in both the episode in which House first meets Wilson (he's clutching onto his divorce papers-- doesn't put them down once!) and one of the newer episodes, where it's shown that he can't bring himself to move or clean anything of Amber's in their home, despite her being dead for a few months.
[Specialties/Abilities] He's smart, understands body language and can whoop cancers ass. But apart from that, he's pretty basic. He is human, after all.
[Affection] He... takes affection oddly, sometimes. When it comes to House, he sees affection in the strangest of gestures, but when it comes to everyone else, he takes affection for what it truly is.
[Fighting] Wilson's not much of a fighter, although because he bottles all of his emotions up so often, when pushed enough, he can and will lash out. He's broken both a mirror and a stained glass window in spouts of rage, and the second time he was just as surprised as House was; which shows he truly has no idea what he's capable of.
Although, saying that, Wilson's really not the type to go around beating people up or starting fights. He'd much rather give you a friendly smile and a pat on the shoulder.
[Other Facts] Wilson is on anti-depressants and has had thoughts of suicide; although they were a side effect of one of the pills he takes.
He's a people pleaser, although it goes much deeper than that. It's become second nature to him to do his best for others, despite his well-hidden sarcasm.
And ladies; he's the owner of a broken heart. Be kind. :(
