Ashley proficiently tapped her response on her phone's screen and sent it to her mother's.

Please meet me in my study when you get the chance. I have something to discuss with you.

Magnus slips her phone back into her pocket and makes her way to her office, blood pressure a little higher than usual. How to tell your daughter that you didn't mention beforehand her father was arriving last night?

She sighs and brings a tray of tea with her and sits on the plush couch, absently stirring her cream and honey.

Ashley looked at her phone. She didn't have anything better to do and when her mother usually needed to discuss something with her, it was important. She pocketed her phone and headed to her mother's office.

Ashley knocked on the door frame of the open door.

"Hey, Mom."

"Ashley." She gives her a tight smile, the kind that says there's a whole well of other emotions that don't involve smiling underneath the surface. "Care for a cup of tea, darling?"
