There are also a ridiculous number of point-and-shoot cameras. We own three Canon non-video cameras and bought one for my mother-in-law recently. I expect the SLR to have its own battery however the three point-and-shoots, all in the same product line, probably have similar power requirements, yet have different batteries requiring different chargers which is just stupid. Duh. At least Apple laptops all have the magnetic power cords these days.
