dear lazyweb: pimp me on your iphone headphones

I am, apparently, a slow learner.  Three-plus years of replacing the Apple-supplied earbuds in my ears every ten paces when they fall out is quite enough, I think.  So, my omniscient readers, pimp me your headphones.  Here are my meagre qualifications:
  1. Must be relatively small and lightweight.  I’m not necessarily married to the earbud form-factor, ( Read more... )

Whenever I have needed headphones for various purposes, I have gone to HeadRoom and been very pleased with them. They know their shit, yo. And are more than happy to say, "Hey, these two headphones are the same, except the more expensive one has a mahogony can and the others are plastic and to our ears they sound pretty much the same so get the cheaper set unless you are professional remixer."

I like that about them. Their exchange and returns are awesome too.

My ex-husband, professional musician, bought his Grados there, and later I bought a pair there for office listening. I also had Sennheisers from them, and Etymonics from them. They always have something within my budget (and I have had different budgets at different times) that were excellent for whatever I needed them for.

Thank you for an excellent pointer. They have a nice selection of headsets for me to ponder...

I like Sennheiser sport headphones. They don't come with a pony, but they do have decent sound and more importantly do not get shoved up in your ear canal like a router bit of silicone and pain. They also stay put nicely, and do not cost an entire paycheck. (Mine were around $50, but I don't have the all-the-bells-and-whistles set, I don't need the mic and so on.)

Oh man. Those are technically a lot larger than I was thinking of, but I may have to own a pair on general principles.

It might help to specify whether you're looking to be mostly using these during sauntering or running or an even mix of both.

I like that my current urban assault sport has a variety of attachment point options that aren't my body -- I should see if someone's rigged speakers to run off the DiNotte Li-ion battery packs I have for my lights, then I could bomb down Oak towards Octavia blasting "Sabotage" loud enough for cars to notice me. Oh boy oh boy oh boy.

Mostly sauntering: I have the airdrives for running usage, and am mostly pretty happy with them, modulo their abysmal build quality.

what flavor of iphone do you have? i had comfy in-ear headphones with mic from a company named "ultimate ears", except the mic doesn't work with the iphone4, so, bah.

I think the mic has added functionality with the iphone 4.
