I actually had strongly mixed feelings about Hearst Castle. Parts of it were beautiful, yes, but in that way that you'd sort of expect things to be if someone bought out every art auction in europe for 20 years straight and then threw it all into the same house... which is basically what happened. All due respect to Julia Morgan, but that much rococo and neoclassical styling all mashed up together just felt way too busy for my tastes, especially considering that this happened in the middle of the Art Deco era.

Also, I heart San Simeon. Mainly for the pools. But also the woodwork.
