Worst-ever episode of your favorite (or close enough as to make no difference) TV series.  The one that you try very hard to forget ever happened, and which, if you think about it too long, makes you question your otherwise unhealthy devotion.

Don’t think too long about it, just go.

Oh, mine?  God, that’s all too easy: The Doctor’s Daughter, in which ( Read more... )

Most of my favorite shows, either didn't have really awful episodes, or I really forgot them. But Bablyon 5 probably had something truly awful involving that telepath colony in season 5, that would count here.

Season 5 was rife with low-lights, but for me the absolute nadir was "A View from the Gallery", which attempted to do an episode from the perspective of some of the station's janitors, but somehow ended up making A Very Special Episode of the Why We Fight variety. Gagworthy, and doubly so coming from a show that five years prior had actually done a reasonably well-scripted episode about union organizing.

Thirded. Also, the truly stoopid episode of that show is the one with the weird gun guy who goes around shouting PROTECT the whole episode.

Upstairs, Downstairs has this totally laaaaame episode called "The Swedish Tiger" in which none of the characters act like they usually do, and the plot makes no damn sense. I'm guessing the BBC fired that writer the next day.

The entire first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Oh god, no kidding, eh? It's kind of astounding that in three years that series went from "Encounter at Farpoint" to "Best of Both Worlds"

Well, this doesn't quite fit the bill, as it isn't one of my favorite series, but it is the episode that made me write off an entire series that I was trying to give a chance: The ST: Voyager episode "Threshold." Don't even get me started ranting about that one.

synopsis> Wow, that's even worse than "The '37's", which caused me to write off the entire series before the second commercial break.

Voyager was some sort of weird existence proof: a show so bad that any episode was sufficient justification for never watching any other episode.

While this probably isn't my ultimate example, the first one that popped into my head was "The Girl in Question", the truly wretched episode of Angel which tried to wrap up the Buffy storyline but SMG wouldn't come back so they had to work around that. Then they added a stupid mafioso plot, and it was truly dreckitude. Although bonus points to Buffy Season 8 for trying to ret-con it.

A somewhat late response as I sift through old LJ...

The first thing that comes to mind is the "Dreams" episode of MASH. That is the one with Hawkeye in a pond full of fake legs and arms.
