"Ollie" and Lack of Sleep

Jun 26, 2007 02:02

(Day 8, 0950 hours)

Encountered one of the pathologists on the expedition staff, "Ollie". I should've asked for her last name, but I'm sure I'll hear it around the city sooner or later. As it was, I was in the middle of getting breakfast before cracking down and starting more translation work for the day.

Today marks Day Three of irregular sleep patterns. I tried wandering around during the night on transition from Day 6 to Day 7, but that proved unsuccessful, though I met Dr. B. Collins. Last night, I attempted to lay down in bed and concentrate on sleep, but all that accomplished was watching the sunrise by marking the level the light hit on the walls of my room.

If I can't get to sleep tonight, I will head for the infirmary tomorrow and ask for some kind of sedative. I think my translation work is beginning to suffer.

Things Learned ("Ollie")
01. Four brothers, three older.
02. Irish mother, father career military (multiple assignments).
03. Speaks Irish Gaelic fluently.
04. Wished that someone had asked her about her history. Desire for friendship? Desire for curiosity about her past?
05. "Friendly". Unafraid to approach strangers and talk with them.
06. Unfazed by tiredness in those she talks to.
07. Father stationed in Vietnam (American?), Brooklyn, Ireland (Dublin), Virginia.
08. 1982 - mother moved back to States to meet up with father.
09. 1977 - "Ollie" born (five years old in 1982)
10. Lived in Brooklyn in mid-1990s.
11. Studied Biology at NYU => medicine at Emory U. => pathology
12. Lacks bedside manner. Performing surgery on someone alive terrifies her. Fear of making mistakes?
13. Joined Air Force before graduation. Sent to Iraq, then Colorado.
14. Knows Dr. Biro -- Biro "took Ollie with her".
15. Pathologists in Atlantis work regular shifts with rest of infirmary -- lack of bodies to autopsy, for the most part.
16. Biro has day shift, "Ollie" has nights.
17. Had a meeting to attend, and had lost track of time.

To Do:
1. keep translating
2. break for lunch
3. go to infirmary, ask for sedative/sleep-aid, in re: insomnia

"ollie", insomnia, non-research, notes
