(Day 9, Morning to Mid-Afternoon)

1050 Hours
Have sent emails to Dr. Kavanaugh and Dr. Reichstadt concerning what I've discovered from the Ancient database so far. I tried to translate what I could of what Dr. Zelenka told me was theoretical physics on a level that he would not be able to understand without further study. Since he's still recovering in the infirmary, it was a bad idea to interrupt him.

When I was leaving his bedside, I came to the realization that not only do I not know many of the people on the expedition on sight -- such as Dr. McKay, Dr. Beckett, and Dr. Kavanaugh -- but I also am not used to approaching them personally. At the SGC, the linguists that were there were a fairly insular group, colleagues who knew each other and each had their own connections to the rest of the facility, whether we required General Hammond's ear, or needed to speak with Dr. Jackson, or ask a favor from the military contingent.

Either way, this is a new group of linguists to meet and get used to, and I find myself ill at ease. If there's been a meeting, I haven't received an email about it, but then again, I have a feeling that not many people other than Dr. Weir, and possibly Dr. Reichstadt, have been aware of my presence on this expedition. Considering that we not only have a few hundred people in our expedition, but we're housing Athosian refugees, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle, which would be both a blessing and a curse.

Maybe I should suggest to Dr. Reichstadt that the linguists have a meeting and bring together what we've learned from the Ancient database. If nothing else, we can make sure we're not going over a section that another linguist has translated, as well as having more set parameters for what we should be looking for. Anything concerning the war with the Wraith and any technology that the Ancients had that could help us now would be top priority, I would think, but so far, the entire database seems to be a kind of crapshoot.

1102 Hours
I think I found a dictionary. Needs more examination.

1427 Hours
Continued work on the discovered dictionary. It's two-way, allowing for Ancient to be translated into another script and back, but it's definitely not English, and it doesn't resemble any of the languages on Earth, from what I remember. Would be interesting if Ancients were the link to Linear A, but I have a feeling that would be too simple.

Either way, this dictionary looks like it could be promising. I just wish I knew what this was translating the Ancient into.

It does, however, appear visually similar to Ancient script. If there's another species in the Pegasus Galaxy that speaks either a dialect of Ancient, or speaks a language linguistically close to Ancient, we might have a potential ally on our hands?

To Do List
1. email Reichstadt about meeting.

2. email Reichstadt about dictionary in Ancient database.
3. eat food.
4. shower.
5. shave.
EDITED TO ADD: (1603)
