So, last night, I saw the 12:01 showing of Watchmen.

I know what you mean about the funny- the violence was so over the top it just became kind of hilarious (this is the same way I felt about 300 and Sin City). And yeah a lot of the music was reeeeally awkward. But for some reason I am too happy and please with other aspects to care? IDK

I enjoyed it and I've gotten over it being OMG PERFECT AND JUST LIKE THE BOOK so i guess I can enjoy it for what it is

also the text in your comment boxes is illegible so I apologize if I spelled everything wrong

It wasn't exactly just the departure from the book that bothered me. Even separating the book and movie, and viewing the movie as an entity in and of itself, I just kind of hated it instead of finding it funny. The actual movie was just put together badly, like no one went back and checked to make sure it was cohesive and not just some kind of series of pointless words and images.

Also, I don't know why you can't read the comment box text. It works fine for me. Is it too light or something?

It's just really tiny for me, although it seems to be working fine now! Hmmm maybe my computer was being a dipshit.

Like I said in the reply to Dani, it wasn't just the film's departure from the book that irked me. I agree, there was a lot of absurd stuff in the book, but it was presented in the movie with a different tone or something, and I think that's part of what made me take it as a comedy. Even more serious parts seemed to have that same tone. I also agree that the actors' did an excellent job, but the format or something of the movie distracted from their performances and the other better aspects of the film. I really did care about the characters in the film at all, something about it just killed the emotional connection or something. The only part in which I felt any sympathy for the characters was Rorschach's death, and that was only because of JEH and the movie quickly whisked your attention away from that gem.

I'm still not sure, and with all the other positive feedback I hear, I feel like I'm missing something.
