Calvin dialed Karr and Alyson's home phone number-- she'd sent off her RSVP to the wedding, but wanted to double check with the bride to make sure of her responsibilities as mother of the groom, if she had any. Or should wear something specific. Or do something.

She'd never actually attended a wedding before.

She put down the book she'd been reading, going to the phone with a vaguely puzzled expression. They didn't get a lot of calls.

"Hello?"

"Alyson? It's Susan Calvin," because introducing herself as Susan felt awkward, and as Calvin felt... too professional for her future daughter-in-law.

"Oh, well enough, aside from some... difficulties with a special project. Though I'm calling in regards to the wedding, actually. I know that sometimes the parents of the bride or groom end up..." She floundered. "Involved in the ceremony, or in portions of the reception." There, that was encompassing and hid her ignorance. "I was just wondering... well. What you might need of me. Karr wasn't sure... although I think it was more he wasn't sure what you wanted or what I'd be willing to do, or where the two might meet."
