Government run health care would be the biggest fucking disaster in American history. You think 3,000 people dying on 9/11 was a big deal? How about 3,000 people dying per day waiting for a doctor? How about terminals being denied meds? Not that the system we have currently is perfect, but holy shit it's the best in the world ( Read more... )

Whoa! Who fired you up this morning? Holy hell. Calm down. Nothing's happening today.

A) The report is from 10 years ago, isn't it? Is it possible this has changed at all?

B)Responsiveness: The nations with the most responsive health systems are the United States, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Canada, Norway, Netherlands and Sweden. The reason these are all advanced industrial nations is that a number of the elements of responsiveness depend strongly on the availability of resources. In addition, many of these countries were the first to begin addressing the responsiveness of their health systems to people's needs.Source (Bolded text is mine)

C) One of the main reasons the US was ranked so low on your list is due to "insurance availability" which would be "solved" with government run health care. The problem is that government run anything usually bogs down the system, and would probably impact the responsiveness discussed in point B.
