Rachel was the first person Tony met, face-to-face, in Bete Noire. The two have stuck together initially for purposes of safety in numbers but things have changed recently. Tony has a more intimate relationship with Rachel than friendship any more. He has opened up to Rachel some- telling her about Carol Jordan, his torture at the hands of Angelica, his brain tumor, his sexual dysfunction, and his fear of becoming like the people he studies, a killer. Rachel was the first one to know what Tony really is- that he is a clinical psychologist and a criminal profiler- and she has also taken up the dubious task of 'dealing' with Tony if the city ends up turning him.
Tony trusts Rachel completely and is in love with her. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control they are separated at the moment. She was unable to 'deal' with him and so he felt he had to leave for fear of hurting her.

While he was suspicious of John at first due to a fortune telling session in which John predicted a violent change in Tony involving death, Tony has come to appreciate John's candor and company.

Bubbly and out-going- Tony thinks Sookie is a pretty neat person and a welcome change from the dark and depressing mood of Bete Noire. However, he knows about her mind-reading abilities and has called her out on being a hypocrite when it comes to home she judges people for what they merely think. They have butted heads on this point once already and it nearly ended with Tony getting cracked over the head with a bottle. The situation was patched up, though, but both Sookie and Tony got a taste of how it felt to be on the receiving end of being read and neither liked it.

A true friend, through and through, Tony loves Sam like a brother. While they can have disagreements on occasion the two seem to stick by one another even to the point of Tony helping Sam with advice on women- specifically, Sookie Stackhouse. Tony has taken a shine to the fumbling, twitchy Brit and will do whatever he can to help him.

Not To Be Trusted
Ethan Vaughn: Ethan started out as someone Tony was uneasy about. He gave the man a second chance because Rachel likes him but regretted this. Ethan managed to get out of Tony what he really is by pulling a punk move- using Tony's feelings for Rachel to rile him enough to give up more than he wanted. By insinuating that Tony was pretending to be something he isn't as a way to manipulate and use Rachel, Ethan managed to throw Tony off and get what he wanted. Tony considers this a lost battle but has no intention of losing the war. Secretly, Tony wants to come up against Ethan again and this time crush him- he senses that while Ethan has some natural ability for reading people he has no style or control and therefore can be easily beaten now that Tony knows what to expect.
