I read the Grimm version of Cinderella, Aschenputtel, and it turns out that there aren't any talking mice or fairy godmothers. Furthermore it seems that being an evil stepsister isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'd take the bed of ashes over what the mother asks of her own daughters any day.

Haha yeah, it's totally grisly. I like how delicate the toes look in this drawing. And the footprint in the blood is a nice touch.

Also, I realize the original story doesn't mention anything as absurd as glass slippers, but it's amusing/horrifying to think of watching the blood fill up through the glass.

Good image, but do you think the gold slipper is less crazy as the glass one? I would at least expect a well fitted glass shoe to work if you walked very carefully. I imagine a golden one would would be pulled of under its own weight with every step no matter what you did.

Hmm, I guess it depends on if the shoe is actually made of gold or just gold-colored. Actual gold would probably deform, just as you say. Unless it's just gold-plated?

I like that this is a serious thing we are considering.

I thought it was solid gold since my footnotes indicate gold or glass it doesn't matter since either material will not stretch to accommodate the wearer thus making the fit impossible to force.

Yes, this is very important.
