She'd never admit it, but Nanao was perfectly happy to serve under Captain Kyouraku. There was no need to say as much to anyone else as she doubted they'd understand.
Her Captain was irresponsible, often forgetting (sometimes on purpose) his obligations and planned meetings, typically napping until she came to shoo him along. He was horrible at paperwork; not only would he rarely finish the work, most of his answered were phrased too informally for a proper report. It had gotten to the point where Nanao simply preferred to handle all paperwork herself. Then there was his love of sake, and the issues that would lead to. She'd hauled her Captain off to his bed so often that the majority of Soul Society had come to some very scandalous conclusions about the two of them.
It had been said to her that she was the one that truly kept squad 8 together. That without her, Captain Kyouraku would be lost.
That was why she loved her job. Because he needed her.
