Thx Anie!

Jan 11, 2010 01:47

So I am fresh from having read Anie's version of the year, and her survey was entirely preoccupied with her utter happiness & The Boy -- I don't have a "The Boy", so at the risk of seeming comparatively sedate:

1) Was 2009 a good year for you?
Overall, okay. Coming out good in the end. :) I've stated in other places that 2009 was a year in which I didn't quite feel myself... at all.. and I feel that is related to a lack in sufficient Hang-Outage with friends, which I have resolved to change. On the mend!

2) What was your favorite moment of the year?
Disney World, stepping into the Magic Kingdom... as a Fairy.

3) What was your least favorite moment of the year?
There were a few, most of them centered around the knowledge that some of my favorite people are never going to call me... don't think about me as much as I think of them.

4) Where were you when 2009 began?
I honestly can't remember. I wrote an LJ entry about hopefulness & love for my friends.. No indication of where I actually was. It was during Snow Mountain, just a few days before Girls In Wigs Night Out (Rennies @ D&B), the month before Rykie's wedding...
Ahah! Trusty Facebook pics state that I was at Laura & Cory's house with the College Crowd. My hair was a nearly-ridiculous 3" long, Beth still had long hair and was dating Sparky (had not yet moved into mine & Sarah's house)... Hah!

5) Who were you with?
The Emorites. My college friends. Good people, all! Rest assured I was very happy to be with them. ^_^

6) Where were you when 2009 ended?
I spent the first part of the Evening of Dec 31 '09 with College Friends &c., at Randy's spanky new house. Fabulous conversation, lots of laughing, and a fair amount of creative fooding (my Popcorn Balls, Debbie's Meat Babies, the best Cinnamon Buns ever...) I was cute and classy looking, in my Little Black Dress, a bit of makeup, and high heels. I felt classy.
The last part of Dec 31, and indeed through until about 2:30am Jan 1, was with the Frisketteers at Lina's house -- a sedate and intimate Game Night, in which I was grossly overdressed, but again, surrounded by friends, laughing and killing zombies. :)

7) Who were you with when 2009 ended?
Lina, Tony, Lucas, Houston, Chris, Lars, Jonathan, Becca... (anyone else?) :)

8) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2009?
Oh heck if I know. :)

9) Do you have a new years resolution for 2010?
To spend more time with friends.

10) Did you fall in love in 2009?
Yes...

11) If yes, with who?
A pair of folks, actually.

12) If yes, do they know?
I'm not sure if they know... they know I love them, but I don't think they were aware I was in love with them. Tricky yet important distinction.

13) Are you still in love with them?
To a degree, yes, but after the 30-day half-life, it's settled into a resigned sense of contented yet distant regard.

14) You regret it?
I can't regret what seems to have been inevitable. Back in the 30-day window, I had some pretty vivid visions of a possible future... but it appears to have been impossible, so I must be content with the current reality.

15) Did you breakup with anyone in 2009?
In a manner of speaking, I suppose I sort of did. I finally ended something that had been a long time in the making, but had only lacked a sense of finality.

16) Did you make any new friends in 2009?
Sure enough! Several new Rennies to the festival, a few new friends in the Chris/Noel crowd, plus lots of new folks met through Godspell. :)

17) Who are your favorite new friends?
Alexandra (who I still can't believe I've known less than a year), Jonathan (I contend I didn't really know him before 2009), Chris&Noel (of course), and I've grown rather fond of Amanda as well.

18) What was your favorite month of 2009?
I think January was the best, as far as my sense of accomplishment & professionalism (working as the Emcee of Snow Mountain), as well as my hopes in the romantic arena -- there's nothing like that fearful and giddy sense of new love in the works.

19) Did you travel outside of the US in 2009?
No... I went to Wisconsin for the first time (with Lucas & Dani!)

20) How many different states did you travel to in 2009?
Quite a lot, really... Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Illinois, Wisconsin, and maybe another state or something between here and Wisconsin.

21) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2009?
Not irretrievably, no. Unless you count my estranged grandmother, but she doesn't talk to me by choice. :P

22) Did you miss anybody in the past year?
Loads of people... my family, who I don't see near enough of. My friends, who are spread far & wide.

23) What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2009?
I have a few favorites -- the latest of which is Avatar. I'm a huge fan. :)

24) What was your favorite song from 2009?
"Fireflies," by Owl City ^_^

25) What was your favorite record from 2009?
Kat Flint, "Dirty Birds" (especially the song "Anticlimax")

26) How many concerts did you see in 2009?
A few, including Three Quarter Ale, the Lost Boys, Ten Penny Travelers... :)

27) Did you have a favorite concert in 2009?
All of the above! ;)

28) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2009?
A little. I really only drink socially, and Sarah dragged me to Manny's a few times, so I think I drank more pints this year than in years previously. Oh yeah, working at the Shakespeare Tavern (as a volunteer) also earns me a free pint whenever I'm there. :)

29) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2009?
SAY NO TO DRUGS. Seriously, I've been drug free my whole life. Never tried anything, don't know if I ever will. GOT THAT, LITTLE SIBLINGS?? Kthxbai.

30) How many people did you sleep with in 2009?
4, I think.

31) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
I don't think so. I try to live my life with an eye for minimizing regrets. So I don't do things I will look back on with shame.

32) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2009?
I don't really think in terms of lies... though I guess (referencing #3) "I'll call you more often" counts. Meh?

33) Did you treat somebody badly in 2009?
God I hope not -- never with malicious intent. :>

34) Did somebody treat you badly in 2009?
Not overtly, no.

35) How much money did you spend in 2009?
Waaay too much. But that's a pretty consistent thing >.< My main credit card has just expired, and I think I've just decided not to get a new one so I can finally pay the dadgum thing off!

36) What was your proudest moment of 2009?
My interview for the Peace Corps. I managed to be articulate and express my sincere desire to do good without sounding like a total tool.

37) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2009?
I think I made it through the year without turning crimson at all. Well not out of embarrassment. :)

38) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2009 and change something, what would it be?
I can't think in those terms -- everything that's happened has happened the only way it could. End of story.

39) What are your plans for 2010?
Be in RENT (Feb 19-Mar21), be in the Georgia Renaissance Festival (April17-June6), will work a lot, will work at Stone Mountain many Sundays, will volunteer at the Shakespeare Tavern, and will leave all this to go into the Peace Corps at some point.
40. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Hmm, a few things I oughtn't talk about on a public forum; went to Bristol; had Chicago Deep-Dish Pizza; went to the Georgia Aquarium; dressed up in costume at Disney World (and went with Wade, Becky, Rivka, Kim, and Nysie, none of whom I'd been to Disney with before!)

41. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but Teresa is due to pop pretty soon! :D

42. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Same ol, same ol: a love life!

43. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I'm not good with dates, but July 4th was a big one (with Chris & Noel & crowd at Stone Mountain's fireworks show), January 28th (Manny's & Karaoke with loads of friends for my birthday), the GA Aquarium with Steven, Bristol with Lucas & Dani, Disney with Rennies, and the zing of joy on the day I found out I was cast in RENT. :)

44. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
It'd have to be my interview for the Peace Corps. God I'm getting repetetive.

45. What was your biggest failure?
My Medical and Dental evaluations taking forever, due to my lack of time and money to get my TB test & my teeth fixed. >.<

46. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got the flu for the first time in years! A yucky night (December 22) spend throwing up every hour, on the hour. I also got the worst Con Crap from Dragon*Con I'd ever gotten -- a yucky day of lightheadedness.

47. What was the best thing you bought?
Disney World!

48. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Lina! She's just brilliant and beautiful.

49. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Couldn't say, even if I could think of someone ;)

50. Where did most of your money go?
Disney!

51. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Disney!

52. What song will always remind you of 2009?
"Go Faster Stripes," Kat Flint. "Fireflies," Owl City.

53. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? I'd rather say about the same, but I think a little sadder, or at least aware of more things that give me pause for thought than I was last year... it was a little simpler, last year.
b) thinner or fatter? Again, about the same, yet possibly a little fatter ^_^;;
c) richer or poorer? Hard to say -- I have higher earning potential now!

54. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Working at Stone Mountain. It was a real hurt for my career-ego to change jobs to being a nanny, though I do enjoy it, it's not exactly what I'd like to be doing (which Stone Mountain was, but not paying me enough for)

55. What do you wish you'd done less of?
I don't know. Again: it's passed. It can't be different. Maybe I wish I hadn't waited so long or kept so silent about my feelings, but then again, I made the best decisions I could at the times, so nothing could be different.

56. What was your favourite TV program?
Dollhouse! Bones! Star Trek (TNG)! Firefly! The Vicar of Dibley! How I Met Your Mother!

57. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Gosh no. I can't say that I hate anyone. I don't hate anyone who I can rationalize, and I can rationalize practically anything.

58. What was the best book you read?
Pride & Prejudice. Hey, they didn't say "read for the first time" or "new book" or anything, and P&P was clearly the best of the many books I've read/re-read in the course of the year ^_^

59. What did you want and get?
Laptop!!! (Christmas FTW!)

60. What did you want and not get?
I don't like this question. I don't get my hopes up for potential disappointments. How about, "What did you get unexpectedly?" Technically I didn't get it until January 6th, but it was a Christmas present: my stepmother... gave me a HARP!!! Totally unexpected, but I've been wanting one and OMG how awesome to add to my repertoire!

61. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 26, and had a fabulous duo-celebration starting at Manny's, ending at Trilogy Karaoke, surrounded by dear friends and laughter and talent and warm feelings.

62. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Love!

63. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Comfort and Disney. lol

64. What kept you sane?
The overarching knowledge that never leaves me: this is the journey. Nothing is a Big Deal, in the bigger picture. Everything has value, and no one experience will ruin or save the world.

65. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Nathan Fillion? (yum) But also Neil Patrick Harris!!!
66. What political issue stirred you the most?
Yay-Obama!

67. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
Everything I do, learn, accomplish, and experience prepares me for what I will do, learn, accomplish, and experience next. All I have done is preparing me for what I am destined to do.
