I love the notion of using deceptive trailers to trick people into seeing movies, all like "You came here to see giant robots crushing things and exploding, and so you shall,.. AFTER they discuss the mind-body problem and Searle's Chinese room argument for two hours!".
Reading TVTropes and realising and thinking how I knew who the baddy was in T2 straight away from the adverts and merchandising. Whereas if I had gone to see it without that conditioning it might have come as more of a shock (Particularly given T1's storyline).
And then I thought about all the other movies where they show clips and it gives away things like who the badguy is or show an epic moment on a mountain so as soon as you ehar "Mountain" you know whats coming.
It's REALLY bad with video games I find. Surprise twist bad guy? Oh yeah.. umm.. he's in the add >.
