A Study in Magic
Fandom: Harry Potter, BBC Sherlock
When Professor McGonagall went to visit Harry Watson, son of Mr. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, to deliver his Hogwarts letter, she was in the mindset of performing a familiar if stressful annual routine. Consequently, she was unprepared to find the cause behind Harry Potter's disappearance.
This is a fascinating xover between the BBC Sherlock series and Harry Potter. It is slightly AU in Sherlock canon in that John Watson is female and married to Sherlock. Yes, yes, "John" and "married???" but it all makes sense and is well justified within the fic. Sherlock is perfectly portrayed and you can well imagine that his attitudes and abilities leave the wizarding world nonplussed to put it mildly! Plus a Harry Potter raised by him and John is NOT going to take the sort of shit that canon!Harry took and is going to take a far more analytical look at magic.
This is one of those ones that at first glance should never work and yet, through the sheer brilliance of the writing, leaves you breathless and wanting more. Highly recommended. It is currently a trilogy with part 1 complete, part 2 a WiP and Part 3 a short stub of a few chapters that's more of a Xmas fic than a real part of the series. Updates are not frequent but it is not abandoned.
