BUJOLD!!! Yay! /has fangirl moment

I knew you'd like Cordelia. I wish I had half Cordelia's sense. And I pray I may one day have half Ms. Bujold's talent. I'm still trying to plan out what to say to her at Con that won't sound Freaky Stalker-y.

Lol.

I've really only read the one book. But I will say that I loved it. I'll probably ask her where her inspiration was for the babies-in-a-can.

I want one. I was so impressed by that little society. Maybe its weird, but the idea of not having to put a career on hold just to pop out some spawn makes me wistful.

What makes me wistful is the lack of childbirth pains, lol. But I also kind of like the idea of carrying babykins around with me. I'll probably change my mind about that the day I become the U.S.S. Second Trimester, though...

I guess also...the biggest thing that this particular book did was also make me re-evaluate my stance on Roe V. Wade. I mean, after all, one of the reasons that I think its such a good idea (in theory of course) is because if there is an unwanted pregnancy, instead of an abortion, all the woman would have to do would be to give up rights of the fetus. There would be a way for the child to live and the woman to wash her hands of it without it affecting her body any worse. Maybe that sort of thinking is bad...but it gives the child LIFE and it gives the woman a CHOICE that doesn't involve ending a possibility.

Sort of the best of both worlds, I guess. Anyway, I really appreciate the recommendation. I am going to work my way through Bujold's Backlist btw. Once I get a handle on school. (Yikes my reading list is huge so far!)
