I've been seeing the pictures all over the place and I just can't get over how awful they are. I really don't get why people rave about how great he is because I'm not seeing anything great. And all the pics for Alice look like someone like a coked up, retarded asylum escapee loose with endless buckets of paint.

Yeah I was sharing some pictures with people and being all ARGH WTF TIM BURTON WHY? And they were like what are you talking about that looks awesome. I don't get it and I'm annoyed by it and I'm sooooo not going to see it. I can't even remember the last Tim Burton film I enjoyed. Johnny Depp I'm pretty sure was Finding Neverland. I am sad at the number of actors I like who are in it though.

I can't even think of a Tim Burton film that I ever thought was particularly good. I've never been a fan of his and just don't find the things he does particularly impressive. But it's seriously just the same shit over and over again now. It's like he's trying to make sure that everyone knows how special he is. And his love affair with Johnny Depp is getting kind of creepy too. I love him as an actor and all but I wish someone would tell him to knock it off already.

And just seeing the Hatter, who was always one of my favorite characters, the way Burton has him portrayed is appalling. Being mad is one thing but looking like someone spewed Crayola bukkake all over you is not cool.

I am so glad that others agree with me on this one. With how often I've seen the pics posted around I was (and still am) expecting to get seriously flamed for this post. But eh. He's ruining Alice in Wonderland and someone had to have the balls to say it.

Like, on one hand, I can see how it could be cool. But on the other...no. Tim Burton just likes to take shit and make it as weird as fucking humanly possible. Granted, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was already pretty fucked up, but really? REALLY? You don't fuck with the classics.

It's not even the fact that it's a classic that gets to me. The classic of one generation won't necessarily be the classic of the next and that's fine by me. I get it. But like you said, he tries to make it as strange as possible and it just really sucks.

Of course he has this cult following of people who think he's some kind of fucking god so he keeps just lathering, rinsing, and repeating the same drivel and the same drones keep lapping it up.

Absolutely! The first time it's original. The second time it's still pretty new and interesting. After that if you're not changing it up or at least doing it well someone should push you off the scene. He seems to have a death grip though.

From what I read, he wasnt redoing the books, he was going to make it so alice goes back as a teenager and just uses the same characters? I dunno...seemed odd to me.

I have no idea what he's trying to do with it but so far what I've seen is just appalling. If he wants a good retake on Alice he should read The Looking Glass Wars.
