LJ Idol: Week 1
When you pray, move your feet.Growing up as an atheist, I always found my relationships with people of faith to be challenging. I had relatives who insisted atheism was a phase that I would grow out of and assured me that when I decided to stop being a rebellious teenager, I would see the light and act like an adult. I had a friend ( Read more... )

I have several fronds who are doing LJ I and I'm intrigued. I just don't like the voting competition thing. I like the assignments/topic things though. Also, this was fun to read bb.

This is my first time competing. I'm a bit nervous about the voting and worried I'll be one of the first voted out but it seemed like fun and I'm enjoying it so far. :)

I really liked this prompt. It brought back a really fun memory. I still can't believe I did that though. XD

I think it's the voting and competing thing that bothers me.

I figure that as long as I don't get too caught up in the competition part and enjoy it for the sake of being part of a group and getting to write and meet new people, it'll be a blast.

This is a very funny and witty story. I enjoyed it. I wouldn't know what to do either. I find your relationship with Josh very intriguing. It just goes to show that the people who are really secure with their faith are the ones who accept others for what they do and do not believe in.

Thank you! :)

We were definitely a strange pair of friends. We eventually grew apart when everyone started moving away and starting their own lives, but that seems to be the case with a lot of old high school friends.

As long as it worked for as long as it worked. Here's to friendship.

I appreciated this entry.

So what did you ultimately do with the Communion wafer?

I'm glad you liked it. :)

I remember we dissolved it but I'm not sure what we did with it afterward. It was rather anticlimactic.

LJ idol is cool, but I like my privacy, so I don't want to make any entries public, esp when my asshole ex bf still tries to stalk me, so I'll pass on it, but it seems pretty interesting :)

I mostly like keeping things private just in case someone I work with or one of my students stumbles on my LJ. I don't think anything I wrote here or will write for the contest will compromise me though in the case that someone from the district does stumble across me here. So, I'm pretty comfortable with it. But yeah, if I knew someone was using LJ to try to stalk me, I'd probably keep everything locked down too.

OK This made me laugh. I needed a pick me up after the last couple entries I've read. :) I'm sorry it was so awkward for you though.

I'm glad you enjoyed the story. :)

It was so terribly awkward as it happened but after he stopped panicking it was so funny. It's definitely one of my favorite memories of Josh.

LOL

I can so very much relate to that. I am agnostic, and wouldn't know what to do either. In fact, I refused to do church things several times because it didn't feel right, you know :). Thankfully, I was under no such pressure as you were.

I should not be giggling as hard as I am at that story. Awesome first piece. It's always wonderful to trade ideas with someone like that.

He was a wonderful friend and I regret that we grew apart. I loved having someone to talk to and debate such a serious topic with knowing that he'd never be bothered by my complete lack of faith.

This was definitely one of the funniest things that happened to me as a teenager. :)
