I liked Avatar more for the dragons than for anything else. The feeling of seeing them flying, when Jake took to the air for the first time, of watching the toruk in combat... *shudder* That's what the movie was all about. :P

Exactly. I had to bite my lip and have a little wriggle and a sigh. It hit home.

I'll agree wholeheartedly with this. I don't mind retellings or "old and tired" plots if they're done well, and Avatar is nothing if not well done. That said, with the story out of the way, an old friend coined a phrase that's stuck with me, "furrygasm." It's the sort of afterglow feeling I get when really submersing myself in something that really speaks to the reason I'm a fur in the first place. Avatar had that in spades.

I thought about putting an Avatar post, may well do yet...Ok so it's not the greatest film ever but y'know when your no longer 5 it's difficult to go "OMG Great film!". But yes I managed to reach that suspension of disbelief thingy so I could watch the it and enjoy it without going 'hang on, that don't work' which often happens to me.

I think what I really enjoyed about it was the 'manner' of the cat-people. I like the hunting, the running, climbing, etc. Jake's first run got to me because it brought to me the reason why I exercise; it's fun. :o)
