Anyone who thinks that farming humans for meat would be a viable food source in a post-apocalyptic world fails agriculture and economics forever.

If the baby happens to be there, there's nothing stopping you. But farming humans for meat? That's just stupid.

Is this on a we-need-more-food level or a we-need-meat level?

On a food level, yeah, it's fail. Plants are much better renewable source of food.

But if it's just a meat thing, and there are no other animals around, well... Though basically any animal other than us is better for producing meat due to shorter gestation periods vs growth size. But, yeah. If you've already killed all your cows and you have someone who wants meat badly enough then, well, humans has meats.

I feel like by the time you were looking at farming humans for meat, you'd have to be in a serious luxury economy just based on the amount of resources you'd have to invest. And unless you've managed to come to this state in a world with literally no other animals - in which I question your entire ecosystem - then, yeah. What?
