::is incoherent::

Oh oh OH this is awesome.

Love the names and titles ascribed to Ra and Apophis. LOVE the suggestion that more than one hatak was utterly unthinkable, before Ra's death. Love the very clear implication of what "Supreme System Lord" really meant. Love Bra'tac and Teal'c's struggles and his difficulty in being canny when he prefers honesty, and oooooh this is just too good to wait to rec!

Why yes, I liked it. How can you tell? :)

Hahaha, thank you!

My brother and I had this grand theory about Ra keeping the other System Lords down. Because there are things like... well, in Within the Serpent's Grasp/The Serpent's Lair, Apophis' ha'tak was completely unfamiliar to Teal'c. Even the propulsion system had been overhauled. And two of them seemed to be the bulk of his fleet. By the time The Serpent's Venom rolls around, Apophis is sailing with a fleet of cloaked motherships, and it seems like every time we see the Goa'uld, they have a few more. And given how bad the Goa'uld are at adopting new technology - I mean, their tech hasn't seemed to change appreciable in the entire timespan represented by the various ruins, etc. the SGC comes across - you have to ask why there's this sudden explosion of system lord power right after Ra falls.

In other words, the entire political situation of the galaxy is Jack and Daniel's fault from the movie. Smooth going, guys.

Heh; there's nothing actually cooler about the DreamWidth version, except that it's on DreamWidth. ;)

But thank you! And it's totally OK to friend me, though I'm more liable to friend back on DW - I dunno, unless you're really interested in all the weird personal crap and occasional Life Angst that finds its way onto this journal. But I don't mind either way. :)

{ETA] Haha, I say before remembering that I already circled you on DW a while back. *headdesk* I blame the headcold; it's remarkable I even know what English is today.

Ahaha, clearly. If any of the damn things would cooperate, I'd be happy to. ;) (I'm getting that I'm-going-to-have-to-rip-out-the-skeleton-of-this-and-rewrite-it-entirely feeling for Mansions of the Dead, or that one would have been up long ago. And all the other drafts I have seem to be for these ambitious novel-length projects, and WE ALL KNOW HOW THOSE GO. E.g. five years and a lot of grief.)

Thank you for the rec!

I really love this take on Teal'c and I think you've nailed his characterization by playing on the struggle between knowing his truth and having to play his role. I haven't seen quite this angle played, not in quite this way, and it's marvellous! Great Bra'tac too - I can hear him speaking in my head - and a really interesting look at Goa'uld politics. Thanks for sharing this!

Thank you! I always enjoy taking a look at the stories behind things, in SG-1; they construct such a fascinating world and then leave so much up to the viewers' imaginations.
