[The camera turns on, showing a young woman clad in a patterned scarf and a red suede jacket. The jacket itself looks a bit worn, but the color remains ever so vibrant. Also, it’s really hard to miss that questioning look in her eyes.]
A warden? Not the kind of work placement I’m used to. [Though it’s not like her last job offer was any more

They can tell you where your inmate is when we pull into port, otherwise they just let you know if they're seriously injured or dead. If you need a tracking device for our time on the Barge, I think you need to request it from the Admiral.

Though what do you mean by port exactly? Does the Barge actually dock at places? [Seriously where does one dock when they're floating in freakin' space?!]

Sort of. It's kind of hard to explain. Sometimes we have the option of leaving the ship for a while, or we just get sort of dumped out in a new environment. A few weeks ago, we were given the option to explore a world that had been devastated by nuclear war. Back around Christmas, we stopped in a world that was basically sort of archetypal Bavarian Germany.

Wow, that's really something. [Hearing stories like that really peak her curiosity.] So did you explore that world? What was it like?

So, I'm guessing wardens get a lot of down time then?

It depends. Some people have jobs on board, some people spend a lot of time with their Inmates, some people do research...you can really be as busy as you want to be. But there can be quite a bit of time where nobody's really expecting you to do anything.
...
Oh, erm, by the by, I should tell you something. You were already here for a while. At least, somebody who looked exactly like you and had your name...was here. It's not unusual for people to come back as if it's their first time, but...don't be surprised if some other people remember you. I didn't really speak to you - her - the first time she was here, though.

I'm beginning to see what you mean. People have been welcoming me back or questioning my status as a new warden. Still, if I really was here, then why can't I recall anything? Why would somebody use my identity to stay here and then just leave? It doesn't add up.

Her totem falls right in place, in that particular way she modified it to do so. This is reality.

Um... You don't remember me, do you?

I don't. How could I? This is the first time I met you. [Seriously, that question makes no sense.]

[She waves. SHE'S A VERY TINY PERSON, barely pushing three feet. And dressed in an ornate robe. WELCOME TO THE BARGE, IT'S WEIRD HERE.]
My item's a pocketwatch, and I can't answer the rest, because I don't have an inmate yet. But I think these are all good things to put in the pamphlet I'm working on if you do find out the answers. New wardens really don't have enough information given to them about this place when they arrive.

You're working on a pamphlet? That would be really helpful. [Especially since a billion of her questions have gone unanswered.]
So, what other information are you putting into it?
