End of Time thoughts (spoilers if you haven't seen it)
So - I watched both parts of End of Time last night. Being a fan of the original show - I could track with and suspend my disbelief with some of the things they did, like the Time Lords being on the edge of time, Time Lords being a wee bit fucked up because of the Time War - hell, even reconstituting The Master (ala Voldemort) I could sort of go with.
The one thing that I *couldn't* suspend my disbelief on...was Rassilon. RASSILON IS DEAD! Rassilon has BEEN dead ever since the original series and for thousands of years prior to that! The dude was IN THE CRYPT DEAD! His disembodied spirit could be summoned, but that's about it! So - do you want to tell me that RTD decided to pull a Voldemort with him too? And WTF was up with his electro-glove?
Granted, I did have a few "holy schit" moments - like when the other Time Lords showed up in the first place, and when Donna remembered, taking out the clones around her.
Would I buy the DT box set overall? - yes.
I wish Matt Smith well, and he had better do justice to the role - provided that RTD writes a good script for him.
That's my opinion - I'm sticking to it.
