I got into an argument with an American over this the other day, and also I am bored, so here is a VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION for you:

In other news, having bright pink fingernails is awesome, if distracting.

'Fizzy drink'.

Or just the name of the drink.

This! The first time I told an American that I refer to soda/pop/whatever as a "fizzy drink", she thought it was the cutest thing in the world.

I have this argument at LEAST once a week, if not more.

I call it whatever it is that I'm drinking. A coke's a coke, a pepsi's a pepsi and a sprite's a sprite. etc.

Fizzy drink I suppose is the closest thing I'll use to a catch-all name, but I can't remember the last time I've used that phrase. Apart from in this comment, obvs.

Yeah, what you said *nods*

Although I umbrella sprite and 7-up under 'lemonade'. Which Kinky-J finds retarded of me.

They're lemon(and lime) drinks, that fizz. They're lemonade.

Of course you know, Kinks is like "YOU SAY THAT SHIT OVER HERE AND YOU'LL GET WATER WITH LEMON AND SUGAR IN IT" ... buuuuuuut since I have no plans to go to America and ask for a lemonade, I am happy enough getting my sprite/7-Up/whatever when asking for lemonade =D

Here in the American South, it is not uncommon for all soft drinks to be referred to as "Coke."

I did know that actually, I just forgot to put it down. Is it just colas or for clear drinks too?

Soda. Soda soda soda soda.

"pop" is regionally used in America as well, and people that say "soda" usually laugh at them.

I would never say "coke" to refer to anything other than Coke. Nothing else even compaaaares to Coke.
