Read the entirety of Harry Potter 7 yesterday. Now I just need someone else who's finished it to talk to. (Ry clearly couldn't start reading until I was done. :P)
I loved it, although she could have shortened the camping and travel sequences a bit. I loved the Ron/Hermione stuff, and how kickass did it get once the action moved to Hogwarts?!
I hear you. I was a little disappointed that the epilogue didn't tell on key thing I wanted to know though. What on earth are thy doing with their lives? They can't just be sitting at home all the time, can they?
My mother sent me an e-mail this morning that she had seen a piece of an interview with JK Rowling on The Today Show where she said that Harry and Ron both went on to be Aurors and Hermione works for the Ministry in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
I guess Rowling mentioned that she may write a short book explaining all the things like that the fans want to know, but didn't fit into the actual story. She also mentioned that the Epilogue was originally longer, but "didn't work." Mom thinks that means the editors made her cut it.
I would definitely be interested to see something like that. :)
I think Rowling gave the readers what they more or less expected, but left enough plot to build tension.
As to the rest of it, that's obviously another story (and although she says she's not going to write any more, I think she might if she gets enough fan mail).
My only beef with the book was how predictable it was, as well as the rips on Christianity etc. The most cliffhanging part for me was wondering if Hagrid was dead after jumping off his bike to save Harry and falling to earth. Scared me a bit.
