An impression of Wisconsin's blizzard.

I have lived in Wisconsin all my life, nearly twenty-five years, and I have NEVER seen a blizzard this bad. Thankfully, there was no ice last night and drifting has been minimal, but the temperature's expected to drop and the wind's supposed to pick up later today. I worry people will start leaving their houses just as the roads are at their worst.

Speaking of roads, I drive a smaller car, a Dodge Caliber, to be exact. It's the best car I've ever driven and I damn well intend it to last. My sister and I LOVE this car and have taken a solemn vow of "No accidents this year".

I don't think spinning out and slamming into a median at 35-40MPH did our last car much good. It certainly wasn't therapeutic for me.

Last night and this morning, I crept along at <30 on the (still unplowed) highway. Visibility was reduced to less than a quarter mile as the snow was blowing directly towards me. The road is slick and it's still dark out. The entire state has pretty much SHUT DOWN. Yet people in their pickup trucks and fucking minivans felt the need to go 45 and over to pass little old me. If any of them had spun out or fish-tailed, I would have been in deep trouble. Thanks for scaring the shit out of me! I hope you assholes end up in a ditch.

That aside, it was truly breathtaking seeing the amount of snowfall. The trees this morning are beautiful and it's so peaceful! I will celebrate this peace by probably calling in tonight. The roads are supposed to be just as bad.

Everybody in the path of this storm please take care and STAY INSIDE.
