And I finally go to look on Sam's desk and behold - there it is. Now that I have the camera cord, I can upload the last pictures! I still need to get better images of the final installation, I've decided.
Here are the tiles when they were still up on the ceiling, hanging like bats. x)
A bird's eye view of partially descended....
Then fully descended!
And here it is!
The light makes interesting patterns on all of the monofilament lines.
And here it is with the movable segments raised. Not exactly what I was picturing, but it works. People are afraid to touch it, so I wish I had put a sign saying it's okay to play the tiles gently. Maybe I'll stick one up tomorrow. (That box in the corner is someone else's piece). People have liked the piece, which is encouraging.
I still want to get a picture of it from the other side - one of the ceramics grad students got a really nice shot of it like that, so I want to take one of my own! It's been interesting.
I also had my jury today, and it went fine, surprisingly. I kind of want to give a recital next semester - (informal) as kind of a practice for my senior recital in the fall of 2010. Maybe I'll do a "collaborative works" recital, playing small chamber works! I will be doing the mozart concerto with Sergio (on flute), a set of sketch-pieces with Bethany (my clarinet teacher), and I want to do something with Tiffany on violin. Maybe I can find a piece for trumpet and harp and play with Emily too? I also want to do my Halloween recital, because it would be fun. :) We'll see. I want to get a lot done this summer!
