Inclement Weather Safety Tips

I've been bothered today by recent news from Iowa. yesterday, four Boy Scouts were killed and 48+ people injured when a tornado tore through and devastated a Scout Camp between Omaha, NE and Sioux City, IA. the surviving scouts and troop leaders are being hailed as heroes today because not only did they know the correct storm survival procedures ( Read more... )

Cars are good because they provide a large metal path of least resistance should they be struck...however rubber tires do not ground out a car, they are a bad conductor. Lightening will pass through the metal frame and then arc a short distance to the ground. Info here.

huh. see, not even I, the weather geek, know everything. that's what my dad and a teacher once told me about the rubber tires. even dads can be wrong! who knew? lol! :)
