Rotary-wing combatants have a much shorter life expectancy in battle, for one. :-o

screw speed (tho you get a good amount of that also). Imagine a hummingbird and a sci-Fi Mech (glitter boy? Why is that hopping around my head) have a baby and it SPITS FIRE AND BOMBS AT YOU. While flying backwards. Only when it's not hovering. and blowing you up.

That is still true about pilots. I agree with "being told that you can be whatever you want isn't terribly helpful if you don't know what you want to be." I always tell my students to explore their talents and interests. Also I explain that it's ok not to know what you want, and not to worry because someday they'll find out. Unfortuately, most of my students aren't destined for college or even white collar jobs.
