As a young child, Laharl was raised as the crown prince of the Netherworld and the son of the late King Kirchevskoy. After waking from a nap which apparently lasted two years, he discovers his father had died from choking on a black dumpling and the other demon lords of the Netherworld were up in arms for the throne which he believes is rightfully his. With his reluctant vassal Etna and an army of Prinnies by his side, Laharl decides to challenge these Demon Lords one by one to prove once and for all who the true heir to the throne was.
After the defeat of the Demon Lord Vyers, Laharl is joined by an angel trainee named Flonne. She had been sent from Celestia to assassinate King Kirchevskoy by one such Seraph Lamington. Upon seeing Laharl’s lack of grief over his father’s death, Flonne decides to stay in order to see for herself if demons are capable of feeling love.
One night, Flonne discovers several Prinnies chanting and leaving the castle. Thinking of what would happen to his reputation if word got out that his servants escaped, Laharl follows them and encounters Death as well as Big Sis Prinny who is revealed to be his mother.
Several defeated Demon Lords later, Laharl is crowned as the Undisputed Overlord of the Netherworld, he meets with a group of Humans from Earth who believe he must be assassinated in order to prevent an attack from the Netherworld. Laharl promises not to invade earth if he manages to defeat Captain Gordon, the leader of the Humans. In turn, Gordon would become one of his vassals. It is then revealed that Gordon was sent to the Netherworld to secure a path for invasion by the Earth; all a plot set by Archangel Vulcanus.
After confronting an Earth Battleship and beating a fleet of angels, Laharl and his party decide the next course of action is to confront Seraph Lamington himself. Vulcanus beats them to it and reports back to the Seraph, declaring Flonne as a traitor who now leads a group of demons to invade Celestia. Vulcanus then reveals to Laharl and the rest his plan of ruling over Celestia, Earth and the Netherworld as a god but eventually gets his ass handed back to him. Finally, Laharl meets with the Seraph and Flonne explains everything that had transpired. The Seraph says this is all well and good but because she had fought against other angels, Flonne had to be punished and was turned into a flower. Enraged at this injustice, Laharl attacks and defeats the Seraph.
As he stands over the flower, Laharl sheds a tear over Flonne and prepares to sacrifice his life so she may live. Before he could do this, Vyers stops him and Flonne changes from a flower to a Fallen Angel. Vyers tells Laharl to become a great overlord and Laharl promises to make a legacy even better than his father’s.

Good to be the prince, especially when your dad happens to be the king of the entire Netherworld. Of course, being King Krichevskoy's only son made for a childhood of getting absolutely anything he wanted and knowing what his destiny was: to become overlord after his father passed away. This sort of upbringing made him rather arrogant and bossy. Everyone weaker than him was considered his servant. His servants' servants were his servants. Everyone had to do his will or all hell would break loose. Literally. He shows respect for no one but himself.
Laharl is rather temperamental. His short fuse is easily set off which leads to yelling, sword flailing and-slash-or explosions. Nothing is quiet or timid or patient about this demon. If something gets in his way, his first response is to knock it down. Confident with his own power, he prides himself on his strength and more often than not uses it as a means to get what he wants. His initial response to anything he can’t identify is either to hit it or to yell at it. Rarely will he use quiet contemplation as a way out of anything. If he can’t get out, he’ll MAKE a way out. When it comes to Laharl, he believes there’s nothing that can stand up to his great power. If he gets frustrated, he only smashes harder.
However, when it comes to emotions that aren't violent or explosion inducing, this is a side Laharl rarely presents. He sees things like this as weakness, something unsuited for any self respecting demon. Kindness is alien to him. Love and friendship gives him allergies. Literally. If presented with any positive emotions, Laharl tends to act violently. His stats drop, he finds himself paralyzed, the works. Indeed, it seems that his only joy comes from the pain and suffering of others. Perhaps in this way, one can consider what Laharl thinks as evil to be stereotypical: evil is the guy who steals everyone's candy. Evil is the dude who takes over the world. Evil is the demon prince who makes it rain pepper.
But Laharl isn't immune to these emotions. He, like everyone, does have a kernel of kindness which slowly grows due to the actions of one such angel named Flonne. Or perhaps it was in there all along. Either way, he denies these feelings, denies caring about people and distancing himself from them. It's all act. There are moments when he does things for those he deems important and makes it seem like he's doing it for his own benefit. But why the facade? Why the mask?
Deep beneath the boisterous arrogant plated armor of a demon prince is a young boy who was hurt early on. His hatred for love boils down to his mother sacrificing her own life for the very idea. A mother who loved her son so much that she died so he could live. This loss affected him greatly and wishing to no longer feel this sort of pain, he distances himself from those around him. But his emotions betray him. Upon the thought that Flonne had sacrificed herself for him, he shed a tear and claimed he didn’t know he was capable of tears.

STRENGTHS:
-great prowess in combat, uses magic as well as being very handy with any hand weapon but prefers a sword
-Also seems to possess amazing strength for a kid his size.
-Extremely willful.
-Protective over those who deems important (even if he denies this to the death)

-Not very trusting/doesn’t wanna get attached to people
-Tends to mask true emotions
-brash
-stubborn
-Quick tempered
-sexy women/boobs
