Country: Japan (haha, sorry Fei! I KNOW you're Chinese ;-) but your "parent" is, after all, a Japanese, our beloved YA Sensei!)
Fruit: Fragrant Wild Apple ... of Temptation
- first discarded, by Tou, then "picked up" by his adoptive father (and put to use!)
- Yan's forbidden attraction to Fei sparked off both their expulsion out of "paradise" (if you want to call a Triad family, or the baishe, that ;-) )
- also highly problematic temptation for Asami?
- Yoh wants him
- Mikhail wants him
- everybody gets "a bite" of him! (poor Aki without wanting to, and in the most literal sense)
Historical characters: St. Sebastian? Jesus Christ? Che Guevara? but also all those nameless child soldiers and all the countless survivors of other forms of childhood abuse
in searching for an icon I re-discovered Gustave Moreau's haunting "St. Sebastien and the Angel". Sebastian was a soldier, and Fei's youth is very much that of a child soldier. (St Sebastian is also, understandably *swoon*, THE patron saint of gays!).
VF 2's motives of an adopted young man, carrier of hope for many, being put through loneliness, doubt, pain, humiliation ... and ultimately sacrificed by his "real" father ... suggests to me (catholic background) The Passion of Christ himself, of course. Asami cradling a fallen Fei? a "pietà" (depiction of Mary holding the body of her son).
VF 4 shows a scary, psychotic "boy" rapist - for whom this, at first, seems quite normal. Survivor of sexual (teenage?) abuse turned offender? This most strongly occurred to me even before FnR, but yes, agreeing with you, p., FnR would seem to hint in that direction, too, indeed.
Film: (difficult - too many kiddy films blocking my memory) Woody Allen's "Bullets Over Brodway" ? - Fei has a Diva aspect, also LOADS of star appeal (a lot more than mere static beauty) - so that's some kind of "hit" *g*
What about a film adaption of the manga?^^
Piece of Clothing: a beautiful eastern warriors' getup, suggesting traditions, but really more fantasy. And also, wearing nothing at all, naked. Formal western clothes, in the process of being torn off *g* (this, of course, isn't really any kind of free association of mine, but all of it Sensei's hersellf - canon!)
Trip/Journey: his trip to Japan - a sort of pilgrimage, a journey to reclaim his life, "back to his root-" - shaped devotional object, or its carrier lol (ditto)
Smell: a perfume made up of all kinds of components such as musk, opium, hash, sweat, sex, blood, roses, cinnamon, Asian, but also Oriental spices. And he exudes both female and male pheromones. Also smells of, of course, gun powder. (If Manga pages carried a smell, it would be that...!)
How the **** can I cross post to Club Sion now?! Can any one PLEASE tell me. Had this same problem before, and had to do everything anew. This is not good for my nerves
