Engagement!!!!!

As of Monday Night I now am engaged to David!

I took the evening off from work so we could go out to dinner, and it was also May 1st, an anniversary of sorts(We had gone to a Fairy Festival with friends a year ago that day, and it had been the first time I'd spent a whole day with him around outside of work :) I had even made him a handmade greenman mask for the festival that will be this Saturday as a gift to mark the occasion :) So we dress up a little and go out to Olive Garden for dinner, and he said we might walk it off a little afterwards and a park or something,( not too unusual for him but I was still a little suspicious of his slightly odd behavior that week ;) At the restaurant we had a appetizer sample with all our fav's Fried Calamari, Stuffed mushrooms and friend Mozzarella cheese sticks :) And a Pitcher of Peach Sangria (Yummy!) I got the stuffed chicken Marsala and he had the seafood portofino. Dinner was awesome, I even came around and sat on the same side of the table with him :) So after we get back in the car and he says he is going to take me to this place that is special to him. We get to this little park and we get out of the car and start down one of the paths. It was pretty dark as it was already past 9 pm, so I am following behind him letting my eyes adjust to the little bit of starlight and the slivers worth of moonlight that was available. I could hear water moving and there was a little frog/insect calling noise, and a low hum of cars from a nearby highway, but the natural sounds were definitely dominant here. We walk down the path (Dave barefoot in reverence to he place having a bit of sacred meaning for him, and I in my platform heels lol)and we come to the source of the water, a quick little stream under a bridge. I walked up to the edge of it and was leaning against it with my arms on the railing, my heart beating furiously with my nervousness. We talk a bit, still it is dark enough that I can see the water reflecting the moonlight, and him when he was close but hard to see anything in detail. He tells me that he loves me, that he loves me more every day that passes, and that he can think of only one thing to do next, as he drops to one knee as he pulls an object from his pocket and slips it onto my ring finger asking me if I will marry him. I studder a bit, sensing this was coming did not prepare me for the dumbstruck shock of the actual moment, I studdered a yes and then repeated it more firmly as i regained my composure. We hugged for a long moment and shared some nervous happy laughter before we started to walk back up the path (it was cold! lol) Since it was so dark all I could see was the sparkle, so I asked him to describe the ring for me, and he tells me as we walk that it is a 2 carat Saphire with a 1/4 diamond on either side, set in white gold. Exactly what I had been wanting, a little un-traditional, but still looking enough like an engagement ring that people would know. We got back to the car and I pretty much just stared at it for a few minutes as we drove to his nearby parents house. It was a wonderful night as I was welcomed to his family, my mom was thrilled, my Dad a bit in shock i think, and my friend Jaime screamed happily for me :) And I am still having fun showing it off and spreading my happy news :)
