living a nightmare

I've been wanting to write a little something about this whole lice nightmare I've been going through the past several days but it's hard knowing where to start or what to say. Sometimes it doesn't seem like a nightmare. Sometimes it seems like it's not a big deal. Maybe it would be worse if I was infected.  But as it stands right now, it's only ( Read more... )

nightmare, lice

That sucks. V used to come home with lice a lot, and it sucked so hard. I can't imagine with 3 kids.

Calvin's daycare teacher told me yesterday that all the kids were passing around a cowboy hat and putting it on "and it was so cute!" AAAHHHHH! I think she still doesn't grasp why I wasn't happy.

Thanks, Kristen! I need the pep talks to keep me going. I'm so afraid I'll stop being so diligent too early and we'll have another outbreak.

Please let me come over and help you do laundry or something.

Some salons offer a head lice treatment. I tried to find some in this area, but I couldn't. I have a friend who just went through this, let me email her and ask. They also shaved their son's hair. The daughter took longer to deal with. I assume they got this at school and then passed it around? I'm also available to help comb hair if you want the help. I ain't scared. :)

Rowan picked it up at a slumber party. Two kids there had gone to camp togther earlier that week and picked it up there. As soon as we realized Rowan had it, Bob marched him upstairs and shaved his head. That has definitely made things much easier. The girls, however, have longish thick hair and it takes me 30 minutes to an hour to comb through each one. It's getting better now because there are hardly any nits left. But I still find a few so I have to keep looking every day. Don't worry about the laundry or anything. Karlen has been staying home this week and she's been a tremendous help. I'll have to give her something extra with her allowance. Let me know if you do find a salon that will help. Even though I think we are nearly done with this ordeal, you never know if and when it could happen again.

Hey, here is what my friend says who went through this with both their kids....fyi on anything you didn't already know!! ----

that sucks! gary and I did the treatmants...we got a treatment with the shampoo and gel and the combs in it. you do the shampoo once then put in the gel... comb out the the buggies with the comb..it explains on the box...it's pretty toxic..the most important thing is the robicomb!!! it is 30 dollars but it kills all the eggs that are so hard to see...you can get it at walgreens...you run it through dry hair...and if she can, cut the hair!

it really is the biggest pain in the ass!!! good luck to your friend..tell her to wash everything she can..i did laundry for days and days...yuck!
