My gynecologist used to be fat. Most of her life. In her late 40's she had gastric bypass and is thin now. She knows how it is. She never gives me talks about my weight. It nice not to have to worry about that when I go see her.

She was born with a birth defect, a large omphalocele--her abdomen was open and her intestines and liver in a sort of membrane sack on the outside. She had surgery at 10 days old and is fine now, she hasn't had any problems since getting out of the hospital at 2 months. But every few months she gets these 24 hour bouts of what seems to be really painful gas, she vomits sometimes. Given her history, the doctors are running a series of tests to see if it isn't anything more serious--so far it doesn't seem to be.
