MY OBJECTIVE POLITICAL POST

Feel free to copy any of this text and search Google to verify anything here. If I get motivated I’ll dig more, but this took a long time to gather. I was sick of hearing blah blah blah about McCain or Obama but not seeing any facts to back it up. Here are the facts. Comments welcome, but don't expect a lengthy reply ;)

You make some valid points, however, this one always bothers me when I hear it.

The Iraq government needs to either step up to the plate or prepare to be overrun by lawless gangs when we pull out.

I am very troubled by this idea. Basically we went into Iraq (we won't get into whether or not we should have or not) and totally destabilized the country and removed their government. You can make all sorts of rationalizations about how the Iraqis need to get their shit together and learn how to run their own country, but honestly it really does boil down to this; Iraq is broken... and we broke it.
The stress cracks were probably already there but in the end it is our responsibility. People always talk about how folks need to take responsibility for their own actions, well, how about actions done by your country in your name?

Do not make me quote Uncle Ben!

Bush threw us into a war and gets to laugh while counting his oil money on the way out of the white house. So while "we" (royal we) may have broken Iraq we have given them plenty of opportunity to step up to the plate and fix it along side with us. We should still offer support, but it should not be from a military force stationed there. It should be from their people stepping up to the plate, taking charge of their country, and vanquishing the criminal gangs with insider information and superior firepower.

As an occupying force we will only destabilize them further by creating resistance to our very presence there. Nobody (including Japan) wants an occupying force in their back yard telling them what to do and watching their every move.

Just a point of clarification - you refer a lot to "Big Oil" in this post, like in the last item wherein you state that McCain has proposed giving $3.8 billion in tax breaks, etc. Keep in mind that he hasn't proposed tax breaks exclusively for oil companies, but for all corporations in general. Baby food companies, software manufacturers, book publishers, AND oil companies. In the above post, much of what you specifically apply to "Big Oil" applies to any American corporation.

There are entire websites dedicated to showing how both Bush and McCain are bought out by large oil companies (Big Oil). References are cited. Do a little searching and I am sure you will see it. I don't have time to do any legwork with the faire so close and so much left to be done.
