OK, I'll admit I, said it, but the rest of the sentence was: '...instead of 2 x 23" LCD displays (turned on their sides) - which seems to be the standard here in engineering.'
Granted there is an element here of "whining about the color of my Ferrari", but bear with me for a minute...
Here's how I figure it:

I love my 30". When the boys brought it over, I drooled and use it so effectively for the pile of crap list much like you have adding: IM and IRC to the apps.
